Disney x Coach

Disney x Coach

My love for bags comes a close second to my love for Disney (I’ve been known to cry over a particular Chloe bag a few times). So when Disney announced they were going to be collaborating with Coach, I knew I had to do everything in my power to snag a bag. I’m still a little sad that I never got the Kate Spade Minnie mini maise and I refused to have that same remorse with Coach.Lucky for me, the entire collection was available before the worldwide June 17 release ONLY at the Coach store in SoHo, NYC. We decided to make an event of the day and celebrate Kid Congeniality‘s birthday, too (more on that later).

The store is a Mickey Mouse lover’s dream come true. Inside and out is transformed with the adorable Mickey graphics that are embroidered onto many of the products. The store is two floors of Disney x Coach goodies. Upstairs has an open, fun feel with adorable graphics on the walls and windows. There is a huge Mickey face mural and a video wall that shows how all those cute Mickeys made it on to the bags! Downstairs, is smaller and more intimate. There are more pillows and two framed Mickey animation artworks.

The pillows were seriously so squishy and fun! The kids loved them.

The price point for the collection is slightly higher than regular coach products, but if you just want something small to be part of it all, there are key chains for $25 and bookmarks for $40. I’m already regretting not buying the adorable bangle with charms of Mickey’s pants and hands, but I had a budget and fell in love with the ear clutch.

If you are in NY, I really recommend seeing the store in person. It’s beautiful decorated, and the employees are very nice and accommodating. We easily spent an hour in there, while the kids were playing on the pillows and the employees never once made us feel unwelcome! It is definitely worth a trip.

Friday Five: Father’s Day Edition

Posted on

This Sunday is Father’s Day.  I recently read an interesting post online that said that people spend more money on moms for Mother’s Day than on fathers. I think this stinks. Dads are just as important as moms, and while the price of the gift is not important, making sure dad feels special is what matters. Some dad’s are extremely hard to buy presents for – maybe that is why there is such a huge difference in spending habits.  How many wallets or BBQ aprons does dad need? So,  in honor of the guy that puts everything together, carries all of the heavy stuff, and makes the best pizza, here is a list of 5 great Father’s Day gifts he is sure to enjoy. Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing dads out there!

1. Mantry – Mantry is the #1 food gift for men. Each wooden crate is filled with artisan food and beverages, and delivered right to your door. These aren’t common ingredients. Instead, dad will get items like lemon and sea salt popcorn, bourbon brittle, or dragon’s blood hot sauce. Also included are recipes to help make the most of each item.  Mantra crates can be purchased in 1, 3, or 6 month subscriptions and start at $75.

2.  Wild Man Beard Conditioning Oil – CJ’s dad has a great beard. In fact, facial hair is all the rage now. The key to not looking like a cave man is maintenance. Facial hair should be neat and clean. That takes a lot of work. So to help dad out, get him this great conditioning oil that works as a skin moisturizer, as well. This oil is one of the more affordable options on the market at $12, and it has a great scent.

2. Loot Crate –  Video games, comic books, and movies are huge in our house. We are equal parts nerdy, cool, nostalgic here and that makes Loot Crate a perfect match.  Promising to deliver an “epic experience every month,” Loot Crate is available in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month subscriptions. Oh, and each month, one lucky subscriber  wins a mega crate worth over $2,000.

4.  Darth Vader Vans –  Even when dressing casually, dad wants to look his best. So why not an easy slip on shoe featuring one of the most iconic dads of all time? If Darth Vader isn’t his thing (are there people who don’t like Darth Vader?), vans has hundreds of options for sneakers, including customizable ones.

5.  Apple TV – One of the best purchases we have made in the last year has been our Apple TV. It is great to be able to access tons of stations, as well as online content on our television. It is portable and great for traveling. If you have been thinking about terminating your cable tv subscription, Apple TV will still keep you connected to your favorite shows and other digital content.

Friday Five: Handmade Christmas

This Christmas, I decided to buy as many handmade presents as possible. I am always in awe of the talent that people possess. Etsy and Instagram are full of super talented people who make the most amazing things. While it might be too late to order some handmade gifts for this Christmas, it is never too early to think about next year! Here is today’s Friday Five.

1. Minnie & Mickey wooden bracelet –  Two of CJ’s favorite things are “Ninnie” and jewelry, so these bracelets were a no brainer! The Plum Pickle makes the most adorable wooden bracelets for boys and girls (and adults, too).

2. Lilo Watercolor –  Art is extremely important to me. I love collecting art for myself and hope that CJ will love to as well. I started a small collection for her based off of things she loves and what is happening in her life. Currently, her favorite movie is Lilo and Stitch and since she was Lilo for Halloween, I wanted to get her something to remember this stage. Original art can be quite expensive, even on Etsy and instagram. AnnaMarie Teresa’s shop has the most gorgeous small watercolor paintings. They are postcard sized, have amazing attention to detail, and are extremely affordable. I cannot say enough good things about this talented woman. Her work speaks for itself!!! Check out her instagram account that is full of beautiful art.

3. Sweet Littles Handmade Custom Doll –  This is my favorite purchase ever. I am head over heels in love with her. I have ordered from Sweet Littles Handmade before and have never been disappointed. I am particularly fond of the tiny dolls because they are so easy to stash in my jacket pocket or diaper bag and always keep CJ happy. This doll was custom made with CJ’s “coming home” plaid dress and her newborn heart pajamas.

4. Ha’Andah Products Men’s Grooming Kit –

A good beard requires grooming and maintenance, just like a good haircut. I know I wouldn’t go out without fixing my hair, so I assume most bearded men feel the same way. This is the perfect gift for any men in your life that are serious about their facial hair. For only $25, you get the beard oil, mustache wax and balm (which is much more affordable than the big name shaving/grooming stores).

5. Going To Disney Luggage Tag –

This adorable luggage tag

is perfect for anyone in your life that loves to visit Disney. While, I did not buy this, I have to confess that I put it on the list in hopes that someone buys it for me! It’s adorable and will definitely make finding your bag at the airport a little easier.

Friday Five: Getting the Perfect Shot

Happy Friday! Whether I am on vacation or just spending time with loved ones, I am always taking pictures. Photography is not only my job, but also something I am very passionate about. I love to learn new techniques and see other photographers work. You do not always need a fancy DSLR camera to take good photos. I have taken some amazing ones with my iphone. Here are my 5 picks to help you get some great shots with your iPhone. Have a happy weekend!

1. Power Wallet: There is nothing worse than being in a gorgeous setting and surrounded by beauty with no power on your phone to get the photo. The power wallet solves that problem. A high powered battery in a lightweight wallet is there whenever you  need it. It is a fully functional wallet with room for credit cards, id, and money that charges your phone (apple or android) up to 160%. It comes in polka dots or faux leather.

2. Togo Powerboost keychain: If you are looking for a more compact, less expensive charger, the powerboost keychain is a great alternative. It provides a 30% boost to your battery, so if you need a charge in an emergency, there is one right at your fingertips.

3. Muku Shutter Remote:  Selfies are cute, but sometimes you need a photo that wasn’t taken at arms length. When there is no one to take your photo, or you want to be part of the group shot, you need a shutter release remote. The Muku remote can release from up to 30 feet away, so large groups or beautiful scenery can all be in the frame.

4. Olloclip 4-in-1 Photo Lens: If you are serious about using your iphone for photography, then, just as you would need different lenses for your DSLR, you need lenses for your phone. The Olloclip features a fish eye, wide angle and 2 macro lenses, so all of your photography situations are covered.

5. Waterproof Underwater Casing: Perfect for the summer at the beach or pool and vacations at theme parks, the underwater phone case allows you to go 195 feet underwater without ever worrying about ruining your phone. The case offers full access to all of the buttons so your camera and video functions are readily available.

Happy Birthday Disneyland

Posted on

59 years ago today at 2:30 pm, Walt Disney opened the gates of his first theme park. Disneyland’s opening day was actually a disaster (2 Autopia cars crashed, the new asphalt wasn’t completely dry and half of the rides broke down), but visitors loved the park despite these pitfalls.

Hunny and I visited Disneyland a few years ago and fell in love. While it is a lot smaller than Disney World, it is just as magical, maybe even more. There’s a sense of community there. On any given day in Disneyland, you can see a number of social clubs walking down Main Street. As Disney World annual pass holders, we visit the parks a lot, but Disneyland AP holders visit the parks on a monthly, sometimes weekly basis, which leads to cast member and other pass holder recognition.

The three main Disneyland hotels are all within walking distance of the park – this was one of my favorite things about visiting other than the food. Oh and speaking of food……I dream about the Three Cheese Monte Cristo from Cafe Orleans every night. It was just that amazing. Disney World has some of the best food in the world, but they are missing this sandwich! And while I’m on the subject if things Disney World is missing, The Indian Jones ride in Disneyland is one if my favorite rides ever. We can’t wait to head back to Disneyland in 2016 with CJ!

“To all who come to this happy place – welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, dreams and the hard facts that have created America … with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

Friday Five : Disney World Souvenirs

Posted on

It’s always fun to search for a great souvenir to remember your vacation or show a loved one that you thought of them while you were away. There are thousands of options in Disney and it can sometimes be overwhelming. I’ve narrowed down some of my favorite souvenirs from Disney World for today’s Friday Five
1. Be Our Guest Dessert Plates: These beautiful plates are the perfect gift for your favorite hostess. They are not overly cutesy or too “Disney.” The white and gold color combination is simple and chic!

20140502-225812.jpg $16.95 each at the Magic Kingdom

2. Haunted Mansion Hour Glass: This is one of the coolest souvenirs I have seen at Disney in a long time. The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides in the park, but rarely is there any merchandise I feel compelled to buy. This hourglass changes that. It is fun and creepy at the same time!

20140502-230537.jpg$32.95 Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe

3. Personalized Christmas Ornament: I have a slight Christmas ornament obsession. No matter what, I buy a new ornament every time we come to Disney World. I love having our ornaments personalized. Whether you are buying an ornament for yourself or as a present, they are a great way to commemorate your vacation.

20140502-231401.jpg

4. Mouse Ears: In the last few years, Mickey Mouse ears have undergone a makeover. Instead of the original mouse ones, dozens of characters have been reimagined as ears. From R2D2 to Winnie the Pooh, there’s a good chance that your favorite character has his/her own set of ears.

5. Vinylmation a: Fair warning – once you buy a vinylmation, you might become addicted. These adorable figurines are great souvenirs for kids or adults. Many of them are limited edition and only available during certain festivals, seasons or celebrations. There is no shortage of series, so there will definitely be a vinylmation for anyone in your life.
